The benefits of an energy audit
A crucial first step for anyone thinking of retrofitting their home.
Determine the best form of renewable energy for your home
Considering gas and oil with photovoltaic solar, thermal solar, air source pumps etc.
Improve the thermal performance of the building
To increase the energy efficiency of your home and reduce your energy bills
Future proof your home
Create a long term plan to decarbonise your home and make it more energy efficient
We propose a stepped approach the following based on age, size and any other relevant factors of the building. The first step is always a full energy audit survey – walk around survey to all parts of the building – roof, basement all rooms – We would consider the overall building envelope in terms of its thermal performance (walls, floors, roofs, air-tightness and glazing’s). Building services lighting, heating and hot water services, controls, ventilation, utility metering, white goods, and potentially significant consuming appliances and all other applicable in terms of energy efficiencies.
On average a house Full Energy Audit Survey would start from £1850 plus VAT.
How can Energy Audits help?
Our team of independent qualified energy assessor specialists conduct complex energy audits to help homeowners determine the most effective way to retrofit their property to reduce energy bills and greenhouse gas emissions.
If you are interested in retrofitting your property, you’ll appreciate that it’s a big investment and there’s a number of options to choose from.
Unlike installers, we aren’t looking to sell you a specific product. Our role is to give you honest, unbiased advice so you can make informed decisions and enjoy a smooth retrofitting journey!
How does it work?
Our energy assessor will visit your home to carry out an air pressure test to and to assess a number of factors, including:
The age and size of your property
The thermal efficiency of the building shell, and any subsequent work that has been carried out to extend or renovate the property
The local climate
We then use specialist software to produce a detailed home energy report which includes:
Advice on ways to increase the thermal performance of the building fabric (insulations, reducing leakages etc)
Recommendations for bespoke heating, lighting and ventilation systems that will increase the energy efficiency of your home
A clear picture of running costs, installation costs and payback period for a number of renewable energy systems
Clear data to show your house true EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) which type of renewable energy system (photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal panels, air source heat pumps, etc) is actually going to help you to improve the energy efficiency of your home, and therefore both reduce your energy bills and work towards decarbonising your home
At the end of the process, you will know the best way to retrofit your home, and have a clear data driven plan of action to help you achieve your energy and cost saving goals.
We work to the PAS 2035 framework, a new retrofit standard that takes a whole house / building approach, to ensure a quality retrofit can be achieved.
Improve the energy efficiency of your home
Many homeowners are looking at ways to reduce their energy bills and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. As part of their wider strategy, the government is also trying to ensure that all homes reach an EPC rating of at least band C by 2035.
This is not a problem for new homes because they have been designed to reach these standards, but homeowners of older properties will need to invest in some ‘retrofitting’ measures to bring their property into band C.
Retrofitting could include a range of measures, such as fitting solar panels, air source heat pumps, or adding insulation and additional glazing.
However, there is no one size fits all approach, and each home needs a unique mix of solutions depending on the age of the property, the way in which it has been built, and the local climate. This is where we can help.
